    Miss List

    Sunday, July 26

When you decide you're going to do something like this it's inveitable that you end up reading and following a whole bunch of blog's and travel forum's as most of the best information is directly from those doing the very same things you'll shortly be doing. I'll sort out some proper link tab from the main menu at some point but for now i've just stuck a bunch of the best of these sites towards the bottom of this post.
Recently i came across one "http://www.twobackpackers.com" and a post called "things i'll miss and things i won't". So with it only just over a week away now before heading off and everything i do is becoming "the last time i do this" or "the last time i'll see them" i guess it's a good time to completely rip off their post and write up my own list... so anyway here goes

    Things i'll miss and why!

My Laptop - I love my macbook, i really do... i feel like i'm leaving a pet alone in a room to care for itself every night while i'm away doing what i'm doing

The Plough - I think if not for this place i could of afforded to of done this trip maybe a year or two back. While paying for everyone i know to come with me. In a Ferrari!. Painted in solid gold

Friends - I have the best of friends i could ever wish for. Some of which are the late-ist friends you could imagine, but still wouldn't trade for anything.

Work - I get to do design work every day with some of the best people you could ever meet, i've never and probably never will laugh so much for the rest of life.

Pro Evo - No game has every taken over the way this has at work, nothing has every made me as angry and nothing has ever made me laugh quite so much. Bye bye Moonpig :(

Bed - I think everyone would write this, there's just something special about your own sleeping grounds. Also i think it may be a while before i get a double bed again.

Basketball - I only started playing with a team again a few months back, was almost a good enough reason to hang around for a bit longer.

Computer Games - There's a whole bunch of games i'm a tad gutted i'll be missing out on. COD6, assassin creed 2, Mass effect 2, ODST, splinter cell: conviction. I mean i've been working with games for the last 3 years it'd be strange if i didn't miss them at all.

Movies/Cinema - Same as games really, avatar, Where The Wild Things Are, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, green zone :( at least it's going to be a good pile of things to play and watch when i get back, put it that way.

Wardrobe - 5 T-shirts WTF :@ Plus no jeans for a year. i've never 2 gone two days before with out jeans, i feel like i'm going to start showing withdrawal symptoms before long

Family - I have to write this or i'll get a clip around the ear :D

Those big events - Every year there's always those events; weddings, engagements. (2 of my good friends are expecting their first in November, so missing that's going to be pretty disappointing)

    Things i won't

2 Hour commute to work - It's like the opening scene from Office space, each and every day....

Desk job - I'll miss the work and the people, but sitting at a desk 10 hours a day, i can happily do without

Routine - 1-8'o'clock alarm 2-Drive to work 3-Eat lunch 4-Drive home 5-Try and do something fun in the limited hours 6-Go bed, Repeat from No 1

Britains weather - It's July, height of the summer, lets see what it's like outside at the moment, yep, it's raining. Wow, surprise!

http://www.twobackpackers.com/ - Really cute little site about two people setting off around the same time as my departure. Still in early stages but you get a feeling it's one to look out for.
http://www.yobosayo.net/ - A really slick, well put together site. Nicely organized and the photo's are incredible.
http://www.twoguysaroundtheworld.com/- Voted one of Lonely planets best travel blogs of the year. Worth a visit for the HD video podcasts alone.
http://simondbooth.travellerspoint.com/ - Just been put onto this by a friend at work about one of his friends, he left his job in 2007 and hasn't returned since.
http://www.nomadicmatt.com/ - This is one of those that everyone seems to link to, i haven't used it a great deal but for the sheer attention is gets it's worth a look.

Like i say i'll hopefully get round to including a proper link section with more blogs/information sites to come
